denzler.music uses AI as a tool to turn ideas into music. The principle is straightforward: a guitar does not produce music unless it is played by a human being. The same applies to music AI. Anyone can play around with it and produce passable sounds. But the sounds only come to life when human thoughts, emotions, and ideas are incorporated. I use AI as a sparring partner to transform ideas, stories, and emotions into lyrics.
Sometimes it starts with a melody that sticks in your head and you just can’t get rid of. I then try to explain the whole thing to the AI using La, Di, or Da sounds so that it gets an impression of the approximate rhythm. From there, we iterate until we have a result that sounds the way we want it to. This is how the guitar riff at the beginning and ultimately the entire song “The Arrival” by SoleilYin came about.
I have many stories and ideas in my head. Based on these, I create song lyrics together with Notion AI. This can be in the form of keywords or short stories that I enter (this is how “Lies Trump Facts” and “Orange Country” came about) or a photo of a text that I scribbled in a notebook (this is how “Shattered Glass” came to be)
To categorize my thoughts and ideas, I created suitable personas, aka artists, that I can use depending on my mood. The idea came to me when I was writing the songs for the Theater Altstetten’s play “Liebi macht erfinderisch!” (Run for your wife!). I thought it would be fun to have different performers for the songs. That’s how my first personas came about. For the personas, I designed characteristic voice profiles as well as backgrounds and images to give the songs the perfect touch.
My most popular personas currently are SoleilYin (a modern, culturally diverse rap duo), Charles Dark (R&B/soul, mindful and emotional), and Clarissa (bubbly, pop, with depth). But there are others I want to explore in the future.
No. After tinkering around for weeks and achieving what I consider to be some really decent results, my assessment is as follows: AI will not replace real musicians and singers. However, it will help them write songs faster and record more efficient demos. It will help people like me transform thoughts and feelings into music. I believe AI music will find its place. Those who already can’t sing without a computer (yes, I’m looking at you, Auto-Tune) and have their songs written for them are the ones who need to worry.
